STATESBORO, Ga. - Kelsey Arnold, Jack Falle, Deion Stanley and Gabby Story named "Talon-Ted" Award winners for the month of April as selected by Georgia Southern Student-Athlete Services.
The "Talon-Ted" Award recognizes students who are working just as hard in the classroom as they are on the field of competition.
Falle, a soccer player, balances his life out weekly to accomplish his goals. "I schedule out my week on Sunday," Falle said. "I look at my calendar of upcoming things to do and I plan day to day what I want to accomplish." Falle, a double major, hopes to work for a major corporation in the future. "I am a Management and Logistics double major. I would love to work in a Fortune 500 company in supply chain management."
Arnold, a member of the track and field team, leans on the SAS staff to help her with academics. "I take advantage of the academic resources provided by Student-Athlete Services," said Arnold. Wheter it is in or out of the classroom, Arnold aims to please her parents, who are her biggest motivators. "I strive to make them proud and I am thankful for their support."
An aspiring physician's assistant, Gabby Story knew early Georgia Southern was the place for her. "I love the atmosphere of the campus, and I have always been a fan of GSU." The softball player says she doesn't let her work pile up, and the cheerleader in her corner helps her stay focused. "My mama always pushes me, not only in the classroom but on the field, too and every other aspect. She helps keeps me focused on the big picture and constantly reminds me of the goals that I am trying to reach."
Deion Stanley's biggest motivation also lies within his family. "I'm trying to provide the best lifestyle I can for my son and to just put a smile on my mom's face." Stanley, a senior, is looking forward to graduating with his business degree. "I want to ba financial planner one day or work with investments."
