“Meet Your Seat” gives Eagle fans an opportunity to experience new mid-deck
PAULSON STADIUM, Statesboro, Ga. – With the expansion of Paulson Stadium, Eagle Nation is taking over, not only in numbers, but also in terminology. For many years, the two sides of Paulson Stadium were referred to as "home" and "visitors," even though Georgia Southern students almost entirely populated the north side. In an effort to standardize the naming convention, the sides will be called "North Stands" and "South Stands" according to cardinal directions and will be designated as such in all communications and on all maps and diagrams.
The unveiling of the new mid-deck and "Meet your Seat" event on Saturday, May 31st from 2-4 p.m., allows Eagle fans and season ticket holders a chance to check out the views from the North stands and new mid-deck. The fun afternoon includes the opportunity to win prizes, pick up 2014 Football schedule posters and schedules and take photos with GUS.
Beginning with the 2014 season, students will have access to the lower level bleachers on the north side with reserved seating for the Student Eagle Club and Southern Pride Marching Band. Young alumni and GATA Club members who have registered for those programs have access to mid-deck section MM, and Eagle Family Plan season ticket holders have reserved seat locations in Sections JJ and KK. Visiting team tickets will be in Sections HH and II.
No matter which side of the stadium side fans Eagle fans prefer, cheering for the Blue & White in the North or the South stands, the expectations are for the "Georgia… Southern" chant to be even louder for the 2014 Football season and for years to come. With the new acoustic properties granted by the enclosing of Glenn Bryant Field with the addition of the mid-deck and new Football Operations Center, the gameday atmosphere will reach another level.
Five home games are set for Paulson Stadium this year with two selected for national television broadcast on ESPNU, the first home Sun Belt conference game with rival Appalachian State on Thursday, Sept. 25th, and a Halloween eve game against Troy on Oct. 30th. Three games, including the Sept. 6th opener will kick off at 6 p.m. with the two Thursday night game times to be determined.
