Eagles Wrap Up Final Practice in Shells on Thursday

Early Friday morning session will complete Spring 2014 workouts
STATESBORO, Ga. – In its first practice since Saturday's Blue-White Game, the Georgia Southern Football team hit the field in shells for 24 periods Thursday afternoon. Inclement weather Tuesday knocked that session off the schedule with the Eagles attending lifting appointments and meetings.
Back on the field Thursday, Coach Willie Fritz and the coaching staff went through corrections after reviewing Saturday's scrimmage and followed a practice script that included pass skelly and team work. Before those late periods, the Eagles worked on individual and position drills with segments of challenging one-on-one drills.
Coach Fritz expected to install approximately 70-80 percent of the spread option offense this spring with the remainder set for preseason camp. During the NCAA-allotted 15 practices, with the count at 14 after Thursday, the Eagle offense was introduced to a heavier passing regime to compensate for a lack of experience in that area. One of the major tenants of Fritz's offense, a strong run game, will see more emphasis during preseason workouts.
The Eagles complete their final session Friday morning at 7 a.m. on the practice fields adjacent to the banks of "Beautiful Eagle Creek."
