"Eagles Soar For the Cure" at Relay for Life

STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern Athletics participated in the annual American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event on Friday evening at Paulson Stadium. GSU Athletics or "Eagles Soar for the Cure" was one of 39 teams participating in the event.
Relay for Life is an amazing and inspirational opportunity to come together as a community to recognize and honor cancer survivors, increase awareness about what how we can reduce the risk of cancer, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight this disease that affects so many people.
"Eagles Soar for the Cure" raised over $1,315 for the cause. The total donations from Georgia Southern University teams added up to over $25,500. GSU volleyball player Leah Joseph said, "This is my first time doing Relay for Life, and I am so grateful to be a part of such a great cause. I love how it brings all the athletes together!" Junior football player Cole Peeples said, "I always love to see the survivors walk, it's so inspiring."
Through Relay for Life and it's volunteers, the American Cancer Society helps to save 400 lives a day. A huge "Thank you!" goes out to Georgia Southern student-athletes for participating in this incredible event!
