Kelsey Arnold, Stephanne Henzler, Taylor Johnson, Ashleigh Rasheed, Asha Stegall and Ashley Thomas had the top performances of their collegiate careers with nine of the 12 coming in Field events.
Stegall, already third on Georgia Southern's all-time list for the 400m Dash, took .32 seconds off her previous time for a 55.3 and first-place finish among collegians. Stephanne Henzler moved up to third on the Eagles' top performances list in the Hammer Throw with her 48.76m (160') distance. She added her second PR in the Javelin, the last event of the day, with a 26.43m (79'6") launch. Georgia Southern reached the top five on five occasions in all finals competition on Friday with Dana Edwards and Deanna Edwards finishing third and fifth, respectively, in the 400m Hurdles. McFarlane's 2:13.93 in the 800m Run propelled her to the number-two spot in the program's history.
While the Eagles posted individual bests, they made their mark representing Georgia Southern as well. Three qualified for the finals in the 100m Dash with Jordan Fordham, Aarian Tipton and Alyssa Felton and Dana Edwards in the 100m Hurdles, all set for Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.. The 4X100m and 4X400m Relays will be contested later in the afternoon at Hodges Stadium with a 1:50 p.m. planned start time for the 4X100 and 5 p.m. slot for the 4X400.
"All around we had solid performances today," said Head Track and Field Coach Marlo Mincey. "We saw some of the progression and not a whole lot of regression. The weather was a little bit of a factor in some of the races and jumps, and we hope any rain will hold off until after the end of the meet tomorrow."
