STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Football Coach Willie Fritz has been on the job less than a month, hiring his coaching staff and recruiting new Eagles to the program. On Friday, he took on another job, greeting Eagle fans and guests who were joining him at a local Subway location for lunch in support of Ogeechee Area Hospice.
During this annual event, all proceeds from sales from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday were donated to the local agency. Coach Fritz answered questions, met community members and posed for photos while the donation jar filled up at the end of the counter.
Ogeechee Area Hospice is the only not-for-profit hospice serving Bulloch and the surrounding counties. Founded in 1994, this local caregiving agency assists patients at home, at a nursing home or assisted living facility, as well as its home-like inpatient center located in Statesboro. In addition to providing care to patients, Ogeechee Area Hospice also offers support groups and a camp for children to allow for the expression of feelings and grief.
A part of the community every day of the year, Ogeechee Area Hospice is supported through charitable donations to allow for patient care, grief support services and program development. Volunteers are instrumental in the care and support of Ogeechee Area Hospice patients and family.
