Fritz Speaks to Savannah Alumni Business Luncheon Thursday

Gathering attended by more than 150 Eagle fans, friends and alumni

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Although official records have not been kept, from all appearances, the Savannah Alumni Business Luncheon today welcomed 160, the largest turnout ever, to hear from featured speaker Coach Willie Fritz. For Fritz, it was his first speaking engagement with the Eagle Nation in Savannah and he visited with alumni, fans, guests and media before and after the program.
"I'm still undefeated," said Coach Fritz to the gathered group after giving an update on winter workouts, upcoming spring practice and the Eagles' 2014 recruiting class. He also touched on the performances of Eagles Jerick McKinnon and Lavelle Westbrooks at the recently completed NFL Scouting Combine.
Fritz, hired January 10th, had a very short recruiting window, one in which he was putting his plan for the Eagles in place, assembling his coaching staff, and evaluating and visiting prospects. At one point leading up to signing day, Fritz had been in six states over a span of six days. His presentation helped Eagle Nation in Savannah get to know the new coaching and support staff and included information and clips on the 17 new Eagles who signed earlier this month.
The monthly luncheon at the Johnny Harris banquet facility on East Victory Drive welcomes speakers from the University and Eagle Athletics. Eagle Offensive Coordinator Doug Ruse will speak on March 27th and Defensive Coordinator Jack Curtis scheduled for June 26th.
Georgia Southern begins its spring practice on Tuesday, March 25th with the annual Blue-White Spring Game set for April 12th at noon. The annual Eagle Football Alumni Association Reverse Raffle and Auction is scheduled for that evening at 6 p.m. For more information on the EFAA event, please call 912-478-5520.
