Andre Johnson to join the squad in Fall 2015
Statesboro, Ga. – Head Coach Nick Zieziula announced Thursday a new signee to the men's tennis program. Andre Johnson, a senior from Sarasota, Florida will join the squad in Fall 2015.
Johnson will graduate from Sarasota High School where he is a 4 Star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net. Currently ranked 155th nationally, Johnson is also ranked 19th in the state of Florida.
"We are thrilled to have Andre Johnson joining the program next year. Andre has been successful in the classroom, on the court, has a consistent work ethic and is a young man of character that will fit in well with our current student-athletes," praised Zieziula. "He has worked with the same program and coaching staff that Kyle Hoffman did when he was in juniors. Cary Cohenour and his staff do a great job preparing their students for the college game and we have seen that same development with Andre over the last couple years.
"On top of all of that, Andre comes from one of the best tennis sections in the country," continued Zieziula. The junior tennis level in Florida is very high, so when you are able to consistently make it deep into tournament draws like Andre does; you are consistently beating very strong tennis players."
This year's Eagles will take to the sky in the championship portion of their schedule on January 10th at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia.
