Big challenge for Eagle fans -- breaking with all-time Paulson Stadium attendance record
Big challenge for Eagle fans – to break Georgia Southern's all-time attendance record and get at least 25,726 at Paulson Stadium tomorrow night. That's the biggest number, but there are some pretty impressive ones in this list of "By the Numbers" following Saturday's win at Georgia State. To purchase tickets, visit GSEagles.com/fbtix, call 1-800-GSU-WINS or visit the Athletics Ticket Office in the Cowart Building. Georgia Southern and East Georgia students are admitted free with their IDs.

Georgia Southern has been well represented on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays of the Week, but Darius Jones became the first Eagle defensive player to make the list and checked in at No. 4. His leap to break up an intended Panther pass and then subsequent reaching one-handed grab halted the Georgia State drive.

It has taken only eight games for sophomore running back Matt Breida to cross the 1,000-yard single-season rushing mark, on only 108 attempts. Jayson Foster reached the milestone in fewer games, 7 in 2007, but needed 157 carries.
11
Georgia Southern's 11 interceptions this year, along with 5 fumble recoveries, against 7 total turnovers, give the Eagles a +1.13 average turnover margin, good enough to tie them for 10th in the nation. More importantly, in Coach Fritz's 22-year coaching career, his teams have won 91 percent of their games when they are +1 in the turnover battle.
16
Coach Willie Fritz has stalked the sidelines on Thursdays 18 times, coming away with 16 wins against only two losses on that day of the week for an 88.9 winning percentage. His first Thursday win at Georgia Southern came against Appalachian State Sept. 25th.

Georgia Southern captured another Sun Belt Conference record this week, now with 40 rushing touchdowns (after only eight games) to break the previous season mark of 34 set by UL Lafayette in 2005.
81
Scoring a season-high 21 points and holding Georgia State scoreless in the third quarter, the Eagles improved their third-quarter scoring margin to +81, best in the nation (102 PF, 21 PA). Only Duke has allowed fewer (19) points in the third period this year.
92.86
Converting 39 of its 42 attempts in the red zone into scoring opportunities for a 92.86 percentage, the Eagles rank ninth in the nation in that category and are tied with Michigan State for the most red zone touchdowns with 31.
102
Georgia Southern leads the nation in rushes of 10 yards or more with 102, 18 more than the No. 2 team, Georgia Tech (84) and 19 more than the No. 3 team on the list, Navy (83). Kevin Ellison (30) and Matt Breida (26) account for just over half that total.
402.1
Georgia Southern's current per-game rushing average. Only one Georgia Southern team finished with an average above 400, an NCAA FCS record 419.0 by the 1999 National Championship team calculated through only 11 regular-season games.
613
The second-highest rushing yardage total in a single game this year in the FBS, 11 Eagles combined for 613 yards, the fifth-highest total in Georgia Southern history, on 63 carries, the highest number of attempts this season.
