
Thomas Transfers to Georgia Southern from NJCAA Champion East Mississippi

Lions’ leading rusher joins Eagle Football program
STATESBORO, Ga. – Ken Thomas, the leading rusher from East Mississippi Community College's 2013 NJCAA title team, signed with Georgia Southern and enrolled in classes this week. The 5-10, 210-lb. running back from West Point, Miss., spent two years with Coach Buddy Stephens and the Lions, helping lead East Mississippi to a 12-0 record last year en route to the championship.
As a sophomore, Thomas ran for 1,334 yards, averaging 9.0 yards per carry with a team-best 18 touchdowns on the NJCAA's top-ranked offense. He led the Lions eight times in rushing, capping 2013 with a career-best 248 yards in the championship game vs. Georgia Military. In the last five games of the 2013 season, he averaged 169.8 yards per game on the ground and had five multi-touchdown games, scoring four against East Central and three each in his final two games.
Thomas also helped lead West Point High School to back-to-back Division 5A state championships in 2009 and 2010.
Playing for Coach Chris Chambless, Thomas was named the Green Wave's MVP as a junior and senior.
Thomas, who is planning on majoring in Business Management, is the son of Angela and Allen Thomas, and has a twin sister Amberely.
