STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern fans have a plethora of new social media options to access content from all 16 of the Eagles' sports.
Fans can receive news and score updates for all 16 sports by following one single twitter account (@GSAthletics) or can select just the sports they want to receive news and scores from by following the twitter accounts below. To go along with these new twitter accounts the Athletic Department has unveiled an official set of hashtags.
The TrueBlue hashtag will play a substantial role on all social media platforms within Georgia Southern Athletics. TrueBlue can be put into play when recognizing a great supporter or die-hard fan of Georgia Southern. The #TrueBlue hashtag will play a role in multiple social media contests throughout the year. Also, using the hashtag TrueBlue will be used on Fridays during the 2013-14 year to encourage the EagleNation to wear blue and post about it. The best #TrueBlue post each Friday will win Georgia Southern swag as a partnership with the @GSUStore (University Store).
#HailSouthern can be used after an accomplishment during a game, when talking about how great Southern is, or simply when showing your Georgia Southern pride in a Facebook post or Tweet. Also being implemented will be the #GoEagles hashtag, which will be implemented before a Georgia Southern Athletic event or when talking about an upcoming match.
GSU also encourages the use of the hashtag JoinTheJourney when talking about entering the Sun Belt and for gathering support for our transition to the FBS. The JoinTheJourney hashtag can also be used when talking about or posting pictures of the expansion of Paulson Stadium.
Additional hashtags that will be utilized on a regular basis are EagleNation and PackPaulson. The #EagleNation hashtag refers to the actual fans of Georgia Southern, while #PackPaulson will be used to encourage attendance at Paulson Stadium on gamedays.
The Eagles have also launched a facebook page for each of the 16 sports and news along with final scores will be posted on these pages. Again the GSAthletics facebook page will now present "True Blue" fans with updates from all 16 sports.
