Twenty-three Eagles Named SoCon All-Academic for the Spring

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Southern Conference honored 23 Georgia Southern student-athletes for the spring semester as the conference announced its All-Academic Team.
The softball team led the way with six selections, while five members of the baseball team were honored and four Eagles from each of the men's and women's tennis squads earned the accolade. Softball players Breigh Findlay and Marla Thompson own perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages.
All 12 SoCon institutions were represented on the team 303-member team, which honored student-athletes from the sports of baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's golf and men's and women's outdoor track and field.
Each of the 12 league schools placed at least 18 student-athletes on the team, with Western Carolina leading the way with 35. Wofford was right behind the Catamounts with 34, while Elon and Furman each had 31. Eleven other student-athletes boasted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages.
To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the spring season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded spring campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
