STATESBORO, Ga. – Starting Tuesday, newborn babies in Statesboro are sure to be lifelong Georgia Southern Eagles' fans before they leave the nest.
The Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation has announced a partnership with East Georgia Regional Hospital to supply all babies born at the East Georgia Women's Pavilion with a Georgia Southern University baby blanket. The innovative program was developed as a way to welcome all new members of the Eagle Family to The Eagle Nation.
"Over 1,500 babies are born annually at the East Georgia Women's Pavilion," said Bob Bigley, President and CEO of East Georgia Regional Medical Center. "This is great way to welcome each and every one of them. We are proud to partner with the Georgia Southern University Athletic Foundation on this great community initiative."
The baby blankets are white and designed with the Georgia Southern University Athletic logo printed in the middle in navy blue. The logo printed is a special fabric to match the softness of the baby blanket.
"We are very excited about our partnership with East Georgia Regional Hospital," said David Beaubien, Executive Director of the Eagle Fund. "This program is a way for us to welcome the newest members of our community and to plant the seed of passion that will grow into a lifetime of embracing the University that we all love so deeply here in Statesboro."
