STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern coaches and administrators took time out of their Friday morning to share their knowledge of their professions to fifth graders at Langston Chapel Elementary School.
Head Coaches Jeff Monken and Chris Vozab along with Athletics Director Tom Kleinlein talked to four different classes and took questions from 8-10 a.m. They shared their life experiences that led to them choosing their career path along with the training and education that helped them get there.
Kleinlein spoke about the importance of choices in life and how education can help you best maximize those choices. "Education leads you to choices. When you do not have an education your choices shrink. When you have a college degree your choices expand."
Monken shared insight into what it takes to operate a football program and all the careers that are available in not just coaching but supporting the program in areas like athletic training, equipment room, etc. He also talked about the skills he learned in school that he uses everyday.
"We do math everyday. We look at percentages of times we score, times we win and times we make a third down," said Monken.
