Georgia Southern Holds Special Graduation Ceremony

STATESBORO, GA. – A special graduation ceremony was held on Monday afternoon for seven member of the Georgia Southern Athletics family. Four baseball student-athletes, two softball student-athletes and softball’s athletic trainer received their degrees from University President Dr. Brooks A. Keel at Paulson Stadium’s Bishop Field House.
The Eagle Softball Team missed Saturday’s graduation while playing in the SoCon Softball Championship Game, picking up the program’s second-straight tournament championship. The GSU Baseball Team played a three-game set against Clemson this weekend.
Softball’s Tabby Douberley and Andrea Tarashuk each earned their bachelor’s degree on Monday. Douberley completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the College of Science and Mathematics. Tarashuk earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Science. The Eagles’ athletic trainer, Lauryn Hunter was awarded her Masters of Science Degree in Athletic Training as well.
Baseball’s Justin Hess and Josh Stevenson each were awarded their Bachelors of Business Administration from the College of Business Administration. Chris Myers and Garren Palmer each were awarded their Bachelors of Science from the College of Health and Human Sciences.
The ceremony concluded with a reading of the Georgia Southern University Alma Mater by Dr. Keel. The ceremony concluded the 85th Annual Spring Commencement.
Georgia Southern Baseball has four games remaining in the regular season including a Tuesday night contest at home against North Florida which starts at 6 p.m. GSU Softball opens the 2013 NCAA Tournament in the Gainesville Regional against USF on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
