Junior offensive tackle adds to list of 2013 honors
PORTAGE, Mich. – College Sports Madness has named Georgia Southern offensive tackle Garrett Frye to its 2013 first team offense All-America list, as the media group announced today. Frye contributed to an offensive line that boasted the nation's top team rushing yards total in NCAA Division I with 360.4 yards per game and the top single-game total in both FBS and FCS with 576 rushing yards in the season opener.
The junior from Cumming, Ga., earned first team All-Southern Conference honors from both the league's coaches and media association earlier this week. Frye started in all 11 games for the Eagles and played 97 percent of the snaps in 2013. In the season finale, the Frye and the offensive line helped Georgia Southern amass 429 yards in its victory at Florida, the fourth-highest rushing total ever recorded on a Gator team.
Frye was recognized recently for his performance in the classroom as a member of the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District team with a 3.71 grade point average in Exercise Science.
