STATESBORO, Ga. - Members of the Georgia Southern Athletic Training Staff dropped off six boxes off non-perishable canned goods to the Statesboro Food Bank today.
The canned good items were donated by fans attending Saturday's triple-header at Hanner Fieldhouse. The athletic department provided a discounted ticket with the donation of two canned goods.
Those attending the volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball games on Saturday brought nearly 100 items with them.
The Statesboro Food Bank, located on East Jones Avenue, will use the items to help feed needy families in the local area over the coming weeks.
Georgia Southern Athletics provides up-to-date information on all its sports through its official website, GSEagles.com, through social media channels facebook.com/GSAthletics and twitter.com/GSAthletics, and its new "Eagles GATA" mobile app for Android and iOS.
