STATESBORO, Ga. – "By the Numbers" spotlights each week some of the interesting statistics, rankings and milestones as they relate to the Georgia Southern Football program.

Eagle all-purpose back Jerick McKinnon is the NCAA Division I FBS active career rushing yards leader with 3,660 to date. The senior has five games with 100 or more yards rushing this year and 811 net on the season.

Number of Georgia Southern Eagles who are currently on active NFL rosters. Safety Darius Eubanks was activated Saturday by the Cleveland Browns and safety J.J. Wilcox has been a regular starter for the Dallas Cowboys this year.

The Eagle Football Alumni Association recently awarded two new scholarships in addition to its annual Erk Russell scholarship. The Tom "Doc" Smith and Roger Inman scholarships were presented to graduate student athletic trainer Erik Sanders and student equipment manager Jaycob Raglund, respectively.

Edwin Jackson racked up his career high in tackles with 12 against Appalachian State. The junior from Atlanta, who has started every game this year at one of the two linebacker spots, also recorded his second career sack Saturday for a loss of eight yards.

Georgia Southern rallied from a 22-point deficit, the most in Football Championship Subdivision title game history, to claim its first national championship with a 44-42 victory over Furman in 1985. That meeting in Tacoma was the first between the Eagles and Paladins in a series that extended to Saturday's 25th meeting. Georgia Southern owns a 16-8 all-time series advantage.

Matt Breida has settled into a role as the Eagles' kickoff return specialist with nine returns this season. The true freshman from Brooksville, Fla. had not only a career-long with his 43-yard return Saturday, but also the longest since J.J. Wilcox had a 57-yard return vs. Howard in November 2012.

With his first carry on Saturday, senior running back Jonathan Bryant recorded his 100th career rushing attempt and now stands at 103 with 883 career rushing yards. Bryant's 25-yard rush helped set up the Eagles' first touchdown score vs. the Mountaineers.
