McKinnon Earns SoCon Offensive Player of the Week Honors

Senior ran for league’s season best 198 yards in Saturday’s win
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Walter Payton Award candidate Jerick McKinnon was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week today for his efforts in Saturday's 28-21 victory over The Citadel. From the B-Back position, McKinnon led Georgia Southern with 198 yards rushing on 32 carries and scored two touchdowns. He compiled 59 yards on the Eagles' final scoring drive, including a 30-yard burst up the middle to put the Eagles inside The Citadel's 10-yard line to set up the game-winning touchdown.
With his fourth-straight game with 100 or more yards rushing, McKinnon is working his way up the Georgia Southern career rushing yards list and now stands in fifth place with 3,643 yards. He has sole ownership of eighth place on the Eagles' career rushing touchdowns list with his two touchdowns Saturday for 38 total.
Georgia Southern is off this week and returns to action at Appalachian State on Saturday, October 26th. Kickoff for the game in Boone, N.C., is at 3:30 p.m. and a limited number of tickets are available through the Athletics Ticket Office by calling by calling 1-800-GSU-WINS.
