
Football Ranked Third in Final Polls

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Eagles finished third in the final FCS Polls as announced Monday afternoon.
The Eagle football team was rewarded for a third-straight semifinal run with a third place ranking in both the Sports Network FCS Poll and the FCS Coaches Poll. Georgia Southern was previously ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, in the previous poll, released before the start of the playoffs. The Eagles were ranked behind only the two FCS finalists, North Dakota State and Sam Houston State, in both final polls.
Georgia Southern was one of three Southern Conference teams selected to the two polls. Wofford finished seventh in both polls, while Appalachian State fell to eighth in the FCS Coaches poll and 9th in the Sports Network poll.
The Eagles reached as high as No. 1 in the FCS Coaches Poll and opened the season ranked third.
GSU finished the 2012 season with a 10-4 record and a 6-2 mark in the Southern Conference and secured a share of their second-straight Southern Conference Championship.
