SoCon Names 25 Eagles to Fall Academic All-Conference Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – More than 20 Georgia Southern Eagles were named to the Academic All-Southern Conference Team for the 2012 fall semester as announced by the league office on Friday.
Of the Eagles' 25 Academic All-Southern Conference selections, seven each came from the men's soccer and the women's soccer teams, while the volleyball team had six honorees each.
In all, 303 Southern Conference student-athletes were selected to this year's team, surpassing last year’s fall total by one. Among the 303 student-athletes were at least 14 representatives from each of the 12 SoCon institutions.
To be eligible, student-athletes, participating in men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball, must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the fall season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions during the recently concluded fall campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
Following is a list of the student-athletes who were recognized as a Fall Academic All-Conference selection.
Football: Garrett Frye.
Men's Soccer: Rocco Bagley, Thomas Hamilton, Hunter Norton, Chase Park, Seth Prieto, Aleksandar Tomic, David Vargas Masis.
Women's Soccer: Emily Archer, Courtney Collins, Katie Merson, Alex Murphy, McKenna Story, Sydnie Van Curen.
Cross Country: Sara Curry, Asea Mayfield, Alexandra Langmo, Amanda Ventre.
Volleyball: Moriah Bellissimo, Kym Coley, Kayla Henderson, Enjoli Johnson, Lauren LaRocque, Kate Van Dyke.
