Eagle Track & Field Set for Jimmy Carnes Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Track and Field team is ready to hit the road for its fourth indoor meet of the season. The Eagles will travel to Gainesville, Fla. to compete among 1,500 participants in the Jimmy Carnes Invitational at the O’Connell Center. The meet, starts on Saturday, Jan. 26 with the Pentahlon and continues on Sunday at 10:30 with several field events.
“Just like our previous meets we are looking to set some new personal records and hit best times and marks,” said Assistant Coach Renee Parpocki.
Four athletes, including three freshmen, will kick off the event on Friday with the Pentathlon.
Last time on the track, the Eagles received good results from seniors Jasmine Billings and Ebony carter as well as sophomore Kimberly Thomas. All three athletes qualified for the finals in their respective events with Billings ending up finishing eighth in the 60m Hurdles (9.04), Carter coming in fifth in the 60m Dash (7.72) and Thomas crossing the line in fifth place in the 400m Dash (59.51).
On the field, sophomore Jasmine Walker and freshman Allyssa Felton placed sixth and seventh in the Long Jump, with distances of 5.58m and 5.52m respectively.
