
Eagles Return to Work

STATESBORO, Ga. - After a scrimmage Saturday morning, Georgia Southern returned to work on the practice fields for their final week of fall camp.
The Eagles, who practiced Sunday afternoon as well, took to the fields at "Beautiful Eagle Creek" Monday for a two-a-day. GSU donned full pads in the morning session and shells in the afternoon.
The Georgia Southern coaching staff, who had watched the film from the scrimmage, went to work correcting the misplays they saw on the tape.The team will have a day off tomorrow before returning for a two-a-day on Wednesday.
The Eagles have three weeks of work left before the first game on September 1st against Jacksonville.
Eagles Third in Sports Network Poll
Selected behind only last season's FCS Championship game participants, Georgia Southern was voted third in the Sports Network FCS Top-25 Poll.
A national panel of SIDs, broadcasters and sports dignitaries voted Sam Houston State ahead of North Dakota State, while six members of the panel voted the Eagles first.
2012 opponents Appalachian State and Wofford both appeared in the top-10. The Mountaineers received one first place vote and were ranked sixth in the poll, while the Terriers were voted 10th.
Laron Scott Visits Practice
Former All-American cornerback and kickoff return Laron Scott returned to Georgia Southern football practice Monday to visit his former teammates.
Scott, who was recently waived by the New Orleans Saints, had a tryout over the weekend with the New England Patriots, but is currently awaiting an invite to rejoin a NFL team.
