
Brent Russell Added to CFPA Watch List

STATESBORO, Ga. - After a stellar junior campaign which netted him Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors, Brent Russell was added to the College Football Performance Award Watch List for the 2012 season. The rising senior is one of 40 players up for the FCS Defensive Line Award.
The rising senior was fourth on the team in total tackles and was tops on the team with 16.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. The Cormer, Ga., native ranked third in the conference in tackles behind the line of scrimmage and fourth in quaterback sacks.
A two-year All-American, Russell was selected to five All-American teams after the 2011 semifinal run which ended with in a 35-7 loss to North Dakota State and was selected first team All-Conference by both the league's coaches and media voters.
