Track & Field Finish First Day in Jacksonville

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Georgia Southern Track and Field team got off to a hot start in the first day of the North Florida Invitational on Friday. This is the Eagles' second meet in Jacksonville this outdoor season.
Ebony Carter (Rome, Ga.) placed fifth in the 100 Meter Dash preliminaries (11.61), and was closely followed by Jasmine Walker (Fairburn, Ga.) in ninth (11.99). Jasmine Billings (Lawrenceville, Ga.) took 17th in the race with a time of 12.13. All three runners qualified for the finals.
Sara Curry (Lawrenceville, Ga.) placed sixth in the 10,000 Meter Run. Curry placed with a time of 39:12.50.
Taylor Wade (Loganville, Ga.) took 15th in the 100 Meter Hurdles prelims, with a time of 14.70. Jasmine Billings ran a 14.82 for 18th, as both qualified for the finals.
Jasmine Walker jumped a 5.49m to place 14th in the Long Jump. Millecent Brooks-Millender (Douglasville, Ga.) placed 31st jumping 5.30 and Stephanie Hicks (Trenton, N.J.) placed 40th jumping 4.84.
In the Hammer Throw, Charnelle Wray (Jamaica, N.Y.) placed 21st with a throw of 43.19, and Alexis Jacobs (Columbia, S.C.) took 24th throwing 41.23.
