Weather Delay Doesn't Stop Eagles

STATESBORO, Ga. - For the second day in a row, Georgia Southern football's spring practice was delayed by weather. Friday's practice was suspended after prolonged lightning delays, Saturday's practice took a four-hour intermission to finish the session. Saturday was the first practice in full pads for the Eagles.
Georgia Southern began practice thirty minutes late Saturday morning to let rain pass through. The Eagles got an hour of practice in before lightening and rain forced them to postpone. They resumed practice at 4:10 in the afternoon in sunshine.
In their third practice of the spring, the Eagles continued working to find replacements for starting defensive backs Hudson Preseme and All-American Laron Scott. GSU will also look to find a replacement for Scott on the return teams as well.
Competing for the starting spots are Emmanuel Orange (Naples, Fla.), Josh King (Stockbridge, Ga.), Javonte Martin (Tampa, Fla.), Valdon Cooper (Elberton, Ga.), Nick Wright (Lithonia, Ga.), and Connell Reddick (Hephzibah, Ga.).
The hopeful starters have been working on footwork and coverage skills in the first three days. Cooper, a transfer from Illinois, looks to be one of the front-runners to fill one of the starting slots. The Eagles will continue to look for a return man to replace Scott.
Spring practice will continue next week, as the Eagles work their way toward the Blue White game at 1 p.m. on April 14th. The game will be proceeded by the 6th Annual Little Eagles Camp at 10 a.m.
