Track and Field Impress in Black & Gold Challenge

Orlando, Fla. - Georgia Southern track and field put up impressive numbers, Saturday, in the UCF Black & Gold Challenge. The Challenge was the Eagles' first meet since the Palmetto Classic on March 9.
Jasmine Billings (Lawrenceville, Ga.) tied for second in the 100 Meter Hurdles, running 13.90. Stephanie Hicks (Trenton, N.J.) took eighth running 14.8, and Taylor Wade (Loganville, Ga.) placed 11th with 15.09.
Azura Robillard (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) and Jessica Moss (Vero Beach, Fla.), placed fourth and fifth in the Javelin Throw. Robillard threw 33.39 and Moss threw 33.15
In the Hammer Throw, Charnelle Wray (Jamaica, N.Y.) placed fifth (46.05), Sara Hall (Columbia, Mo.) placed seventh (44.33) and Alexis Jacobs (Columbia, S.C.) came in 14th (35.90). In the Discus, Jacobs placed seventh (37.57) and Hall placed tenth throwing 35.46. Sara Hall also took second place in the Shot Put (13.00). Alexis Jacobs placed seventh (12.47) and Charnelle Wray placed ninth with a throw of 11.86.
In the Long Jump, Jasmine Walker (Fairburn, Ga.) took seventh (5.49) and Stephanie Hicks placed eighth (5.41). The 400 Meter saw Kimberly Thomas (Covington, Ga.) take seventh (57.29) and Cherrelle King (Elmont, N.Y.) place eleventh (57.70)
In the 800 Meter, Asea Mayfield (Marietta, Ga.) ran 2:17.74 to take sixth. Kristiana Towns (Decatur, Ga.), Talisha Rice (Stockbridge, Ga.) and Azura Robillard placed 12th (2:21.60), 13th (2:23.94) and 14th (2:25.46) respectively. Ebony Carter (Rome, Ga.) ran 24.70 to place ninth in the 200 Meter. And in the 400 Meter Hurdles, Dana Edwards (Athens, Ga.) placed tenth with a time of 1:05.48, and Taylor Wade placed 11th running 1:05.60.
The Eagles will be back in action March 23-24, when they compete in the FSU Relays.
