Track and Field Releases 2012-2013 Schedule

STATESBORO Ga. – The Georgia Southern track and field program announced its 2012-2013 schedules for the indoor and outdoor seasons. The slate, which features 17 meets, is highlighted by the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Georgia Southern University.
The Eagles kick off the indoor season with their only 2012 meet at Clemson University on Dec. 1. The season will pick up speed in January when the team competes in three different meets. The team travels down to Birmingham, Ala. to compete at University of Alabama Birmingham Jan. 10-11 and continue on the road with a meet at East Tennessee State University on Jan. 18-19. The squad closes out the month of January with the JDL Fast Track meet in Winston Salem, N.C. on the 25th and 26th.
The indoor season continues in February with meets at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (Feb. 2), conference rival Samford (Feb. 8-9), and Clemson University (Feb. 9). The team’s last February showing is at the SoCon Indoor Championships in Winston Salem, N.C. on Feb. 23-24 where Eagles will look to improve on last year’s third place finish.
The NCAA Indoor Championships take place on March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark.
The outdoor season starts off in March at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. (March 2) and continues with a meet at the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. (March 8) before the Eagles will host a meet in Statesboro, Ga. on March 15. The team finishes up the month of March in Florida, participating in a meet at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Tenn. March 22-23 and traveling back to University of North Florida on March 29-30.
In April the Eagles take on University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. on the 5th and 6th before they host the SoCon Outdoor Championships the weekend of April 20-21.
The 2013 outdoor slate ends with one more competition day in May when it travels to Atlanta to compete at Georgia Tech University on May 11.
The NCAA DI East Outdoor Preliminary Round is set for May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C. and the NCAA Outdoor National Championships are held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
The Eagles return a talented group of athletes including 2012 SoCon Outdoor Most Outstanding Track Performer Ebony Carter and SoCon Indoor Freshman of the year Jasmin Walker.
