STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Track and Field team is heading to Birmingham for its next stop of the indoor season. The Eagles will be competing in the Birmingham Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday, at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Events will begin at 2 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, and continue at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday.
Georgia Southern is coming off of a good showing at the Florida Gator Invitational, and will look to improve on its 14 top-20 scores in Gainesville.
Sara Hall (Columbia, Mo.) and Alexis Jacobs (Columbia, S.C.) look to place in the top-ten again, after taking fourth and seventh in the Shot Put, respectively, in the Gator Invitational. Other top-ten finishers at the Gator Invitational included Sara Curry (Lawrenceville, Ga.), Jasmine Billings (Lawrenceville, Ga.), and Stephanie Hicks (Trenton, N.J).
The Eagles hope to carry its success from Gainesville into its fourth meet of the season. GSUshould be comfortable in Birmingham, having competed there in the UAB Blazer Invite just two weeks ago. The familiarity of the city should serve them well, as they continue to prepare for the SoCon Championships, which will also be held in Birmingham.
