Track and Field heads to Gator Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Track & Field team will look to continue improving as they head to Florida to participate in the Gator Invitational on Sunday. Included in the field are nine Southeastern Conference schools, six of which are currently ranked in the Top 25. Events begin at 11 a.m.
This is the third meet of the indoor season for the Eagles, they are hoping to improve on their first two meets, which saw GSU put up very impressive times. Many members of the team have posted Top-20 finishes in the SoCon already this season, and the Eagles are hoping to build on the hot start. Junior Jasmine Billings (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and sophomore Stephanie Hicks (Trenton, N.J.) have the top two times this season in the 60m Hurdles with marks of 8.55 and 8.76.
Joining them with top-20 scores are junior Ebony Carter (Rome, Ga.) and freshman Jasmine Walker (Fairburn, Ga.) who have the second and third best times in the 60m Dash, with times of 7.67 and 7.75, respectively. In the field events, freshman Sarah Hall has posted the top throw in the SoCon this year in the Shot Put, with an impressive 13.39m/43' 11.25”.
