Track & Field Completes First Day of Blazer Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Georgia Southern Track & Field team completed the first day of the Blazer Invite at the Birmingham Sportsplex Thursday. Sara Hall (Columbia, Mo.) and Azura Robillard (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) highlighted the day with season highs in the shot put and the mile run, respectively.
Hall bested her mark from Orange & Purple Winter Classic in the shot put with a season-high 13.39m throw on her fourth attempt. She finished sixth in the event, while Alexis Jacobs (Columbia, S.C.) finished 19th with a throw of 11.34m.
Robillard was the second Eagle to tally a season-high in the two-day meet. The senior finished 24th with a time of 5:51.21 in the mile run, while Amanda Tennyson (Lawrenceville, Ga.) crossed the finish line in 27th place with a time of 6:17.66.
The 5000m run pair of Megan Sullivan (Huntersville, N.C.) and Brittani Martin (Alpharetta, Ga.) posted top-10 finishes. Sullivan came in sixth with a time of 18:57.71, while Martin was ninth with a time of 19:34.10. In the final distance event of the day, the Georgia Southern B squad finished 12th in the distance medley with a time of 13:28.89.
In the 60m events Jasmine Walker (Fairburn, Ga.) finished 22nd in the dash with a time of 7.82. Taylor Wade (Loganville, Ga.), who also ran in the dash, posted a 28th place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.65. Dana Edwards (Athens, Ga.) crossed the line right behind her with a similar time of 9.65.
In the only two jump events of the day, Millicent Brooks-Millender (Douglasville, Ga.) finished 21st with a mark of 5.06m. Walker came in 24th with a jump of 4.97m.
The Blazer Invite continues tomorrow with a full slate of events.
