STATESBORO, Ga. - Two Spring Family Weekends are planned for 2012 at Georgia Southern University and will include Eagle Athletics events. The University's Office of Orientation and Parent Programs has arranged for families to purchase tickets to the Eagle basketball doubleheader on February 18th for the first weekend and the Georgia Southern-College of Charleston baseball game on March 31st. Registration for both Spring Family Weekend events begins January 9th with a closing deadline of February 10th for the first weekend.
"We are very excited to host these Spring Family Weekends and welcome parents back to campus to visit their student," said Erin Campbell, assistant director of admissions, orientation, and parent programs. "Our family weekends continue to grow each year and we are expecting to welcome a record number of parents back to campus this year."
The first Spring Family Weekend starts with a family Career Workshop conducted by the University's Office of Career Services on February 18th. The unique workshop is designed to educate families on the services provided to students, how to obtain relevant job experiences, selecting a major, and more. Tickets for the Career Workshop for members of Georgia Southern's Parent and Family Association (and their students) cost $10 per person. The non-member price is $15. Breakfast will be provided for Career Workshop attendees.
Later that day, families are invited to attend both the Lady Eagles basketball game vs. Elon University and the men's basketball game vs. UNC Greensboro in historic Hanner Fieldhouse. Tickets for the doubleheader are only $5 each for Family Weekend attendees and Georgia Southern students are admitted free with their valid student ID.
Families are invited to attend the Eagles vs. Cougars baseball game at Georgia Southern's J.I. Clements Stadium as part of the second Family Weekend March 31st. Parents and guests may purchase a package for $10 with the student package priced at $5. Both packages include a game ticket and concession pass.
Parents are encouraged to register and purchase their tickets early to accommodate for the expected large number of families.
