STATESBORO, Ga. - For a few hours before Georgia Southern's football game versus Western Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 24th, the National Champion Georgia Southern Cheerleaders will teach others what it takes to be on the sidelines. Girls and boys between the ages of 4 - 14 can participate in the "Cheerleader for a Day" camp event and then join the Eagles on the field during pregame.
The "Cheerleader for a Day" camp begins at the RAC where participants will work with the Eagle Cheerleaders to learn cheers, chants and important cheerleading skills. After the cheerleader coaching sessions, the future Eagle cheerleaders will practice for 30 minutes for their parents and then enjoy a snack before their parents will take them over to Paulson Stadium. There the future Eagle Cheerleaders will perform cheers with GUS and their Georgia Southern counterparts prior to the game and help form the tunnel for the Eagle players.
Cost for the three-hour event is $35 and includes a ticket to the football game for the participant, snack and photo session with fan-favorite mascot GUS. Parents who register their children prior to Tuesday, September 20th receive a $5 discount on the regular camp price.
