Nearly 50 new Georgia Southern student-athletes completed the "Proud to be E.A.G.L.E.S" program tonight with the sixth session in the series. Matt Lombardi and the Office of Student-Athlete Services arranged the sessions with guest speakers presenting on various topics relating to the acronym E.A.G.L.E.S.
The first session focused on Education, with members of the faculty discussing success strategies and study skills. The strength and conditioning staff met with the group to cover the importance of strength training, nutrition and wellness in the second session on Athletics. Guest speakers presented on Generosity and Leadership in the second week of the program to show how volunteer and service opportunities can enrich and enhance the collegiate experience. Information on NCAA compliance, the regulations universities must follow and how Georgia Southern student-athletes are perceived in the public eye provided the attendees with a tutorial on Ethics. The final session reminded the student-athletes of the resources and support system available to them as they start on their road to Success.
