Hyter Named SoCon Field Athlete of the Month for February

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern Track & Field student-athlete Lynndsey Hyter was honored as the Southern Conference Field Athlete for the month of February, the league office announced today. A senior from Dallas, Texas, Hyter earned accolades as the Most Outstanding Athlete and Most Outstanding Field Performer at the 2011 SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championships February 26-27th. She became the first female student-athlete to win the Pentathlon three times, winning it for her third consecutive year in 2011.
After finishing the 800 meter run for the Pentathlon, Hyter turned around and qualified for the 60m Hurdle finals. She claimed first place in the long jump with a distance of 6.06m and finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.20 meters, both career bests. Hyter scored more than 30 points toward Georgia Southern's team total at the championship event.
