STATESBORO, Ga. - The Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award recognized Georgia Southern's Adrian Mora record-breaking month of October. The Eagle kicker was one of nine FCS place-kickers to be honored for outstanding performances as a kicker.
"October was a terrific month for game-winning field goals, record-setting performances and community service by place-kickers. It is a pleasure to recognize place-kickers that were nominated by their schools for extraordinary performance during the month," said the award's namesake Fred Mitchell.
The Dalton, Ga., native broke the Eagles' career field goal record with 1:16 remaining in the 41-14 win over Elon on the first of the month and later set the FCS record for consecutive extra points against Furman on October 15th.
Mora has extended that streak to a perfect 137-for-137 and leads the team in scoring with 75 points. He has not missed a field goal in 11 tries this season and scored 44 of his points last month.
Mora and his fellow seniors will be honored Saturday at the final regular season game in Paulson Stadium. Kickoff against The Citadel is set for 2 p.m.
