Sixth Annual "Cheerleader for a Day" set for January 15

STATESBORO, Ga. - The sixth annual "Cheerleader for a Day" camp for children between the ages of four and 14 is set for Saturday, January 15th at Hanner Fieldhouse. Boys and girls are invited to spend the day with the Georgia Southern cheerleaders as they will learn a cheerleading routine to perform at halftime of the men's basketball game against Furman that afternoon.
Registration is open now and the fee for the camp is $35. The fee includes a ticket to the basketball game for the participant, pizza, a photo with GUS and a temporary GSU tattoo. Parents who register their children before Tuesday, January 11th receive a $5 discount on the camp price.
The camp begins at 10 a.m. at Hanner Fieldhouse and runs until the end of halftime of the basketball game (approximately 3 p.m.). Each child should wear athletic attire including athletic socks and tennis shoes.
After the cheerleading coaching sessions, participants will enjoy pizza and take pictures with GUS. At 1:35 p.m., the Eagle cheerleaders will start taking groups to the arena to be seated for the basketball game. The children will watch the first half of the game and then perform their routine on the court at halftime. Following the performance, parents can pick up their children in the back lobby of Hanner.
Parents of children participating in "Cheerleader for a Day" can purchase game tickets for $8. Additional youth tickets for children ages 3-12 are available for $4 and children under the age of three are admitted free. Parents may purchase tickets during the sign-in period at 10 a.m.
