Chris Carter enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Eagles Swimming and Diving team. During the 2010-2011 season, Chris assisted with all facets of the team, with a primary focus on the distance swimmers. During the season, three new school records were set and Chris helped lead the team to a Top Ten AvidaSports national ranking and a fourth place finish at the CCSA Championships. The 2010-2011 season was also a success in the classroom, where the team posted a 3.27 grade point average and placed a student-athlete on the Capital One Academic All-America Team.
Prior to coaching for the Eagles, Carter attended the University of Georgia where he received a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education in 2010. During his time in Athens, Carter was an assistant coach with the Athens Bulldog Swim Club from 2007-2010, under the tutelage of Harvey Humphries and Jonathan Foggin. In 2010, he coached the senior and middle school groups toward three individual state champions, multiple junior national qualifiers and a third place finish at the Northern Divisionals. Carter was also a lead assistant coach at Clarke Central High School and Winder Barrow High School, the latter of which had its first-ever state qualifiers and broke 12 school records. Carter has also worked with the University of Georgia Swim Camp and the USA swim club Stingrays Swimming. Carter is an active member of USA Swimming and is a Level Two member of the American Swim Coaches Association.
The Kennesaw, Ga. native is pursuing a master's degree in Sport Psychology at Georgia Southern University.
