STATESBORO, Ga. - Covering the Georgia Southern Football program from the press box, the sidelines and the practice fields this fall, the Georgia Southern Radio Network is pleased to announce a lineup of 16 affiliates for the 2010 season. Georgia Southern fans throughout the state of Georgia can listen to the full slate of Eagle football games and follow the team as the vaunted triple option offense returns to Paulson Stadium and a young and eager defense takes the field. Georgia Southern Football games will be broadcast across one of the largest radio networks in NCAA Division I-FCS.
Director of Network Operations Chris Blair, who returns as the "Voice of the Eagles" for his fifth season, added four new affiliates to the lineup. New partnerships for 2010 Albany's 100.3 WOBB-FM and 550 WDUN in Gainesville, which will provide the Georgia Southern Radio Network with two of the most powerful broadcast signals in the state.
"In addition to the 12 affiliates returning from the 2009 season, we are excited to have developed new relationships with stations in the Atlanta, north Georgia, Columbus, Albany, and Augusta areas."
WOBB, B-100 in Albany, a popular, 100,000 watt station in the southwest corner of the state, will provide live coverage on Saturdays to Eagle fans in Albany, Tifton, Moultrie, Blakely, Bainbridge and Thomasville in addition to reaching east Alabama and northwest Florida.
NewsTalk 550 WDUN in Gainesville is one of the most well-respected broadcast stations in the state of Georgia and the Southeast. WDUN will serve as the radio outlet for the greater Atlanta metro area and all of north Georgia. The station's massive daytime coverage includes eastern Tennessee and western South and North Carolina.
"When we arrived in Statesboro we went to work to deliver a plan of what we believed in -- high-quality production and consistent network coverage." Blair said. "Our affiliates are required to carry the full schedule of Georgia Southern Football games each and every Saturday and we're constantly working to improve our programs and broadcasts. The fans, the football program, its legendary success, and the University deserve nothing less than that."
Back for the 2010 season, game day will feature "The Citizens Bank Tailgate Show" beginning two hours prior to each kickoff. The show, hosted by sideline reporter Ryan Chambers along with Russ Brown and Statesboro Herald sports editor Matt Yogus, will feature in-depth interviews and analysis on each matchup. "The Citizens Bank Tailgate Show" moves from the booth to a new setup near the entrance of Paulson Stadium and Bishop Field House for home games to provide fans in attendance and those listening the full tailgating experience at Paulson Stadium. Blair and four-year Eagle letterman and three-time national champion Terry Harvin bring the fans into the stadium for kickoff. Blair will handle play-by-play responsibilities while Harvin provides the color analysis.
