SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern will play host to Elon on September 25th for the second game in the SoCon Saturdays series in 2010. Game time remains at 6 p.m. The Southern Conference, in conjunction with television partner SportSouth, announced today (July 8) the league's upcoming football television schedule. Branded SoCon Saturdays, the Southern Conference football schedule on SportSouth features eight games and includes all nine conference schools.
The final two games of the SoCon Saturdays 2010 series, set for November 13 and November 20, will not be announced until later in the season. Those matchups will be selected jointly by the conference and SportSouth to choose games that figure to have the greatest impact on the league race.
"The concept of two wild card weekends is something we've discussed in the past and are excited to finally put in place," said Southern Conference Commissioner John Iamarino. "This will assure our viewers of seeing meaningful conference games down the stretch in November."
SportSouth, the television home of the Southern Conference, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Thrashers, reaches more than 10 million homes in six Southeastern states. The eight-game package for 2010 is an increase from last year's seven telecasts on SportSouth.
First-year Head Coach Jeff Monken and the Eagles bring the option back to Paulson Stadium on September 4 versus Savannah State. Fans can purchase season tickets now by calling 1-800-GSU-WINS (478-9467) or view the other four home games through Georgia Southern Athletics' Eagle Vision subscription video service.
