Best Performances of Outdoor Season for Six Eagles

AUBURN, Ala - Posting a third-place finish at the War Eagle Invitational, senior Shauta Hamilton (Macon, Ga.) recorded the top distance in the Southern Conference in the Long Jump with a measurement of 19-04.00 (0.7). Her 38-11.50 (0.9) distance in the Triple Jump, which placed her third in that event, will rank her in the top five of this year's SoCon outdoor performances.
Senior Demetrise Anthony (Manchester, Ga.) took eighth place in the 100 meter Dash with a time of 12.01 after racing to a season- and SoCon-best 11.83 time (2.0).
In the 800 meter Run, Laura Fuller (Cartersviille, Ga.) and Azura Robillard (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) placed sixth and seventh (2:21.08), respectively. Fuller's time of 2:19.37 was her best of the season. Georgia Southern's distance runners took three top-25 places in the 5,000 meter Run. Brittani Martin (Alpharetta, Ga.) took 15th place with a time of 19:16.25. Heather McAllister (Cartersville, Ga.) ran a time of 19:23.43 for 17th place and Kassi Lee (Elberton, Ga.) was 22nd with a time of 20:50.41. Sara Curry (Lawrenceville, Ga.) was the only Georgia Southern competitor in the 1,500 meter Run and finished in the top-25 with a time of 5:07.38.
Ebony Carter (Rome, Ga.), who ran her season-best time in the 100 meter Dash with a time of 12.36 in the preliminaries, finished just ahead of teammate Courtney Ware (Indianapolis, Ind.) in the 200 meter Dash with a time of 25.85. Ware ran a 26.39 in the event. Lynndsey Hyter (Dallas, Texas) and Hamilton ran the 100 meter Hurdles and finished in the top 25. Hyter (15.44, -1.6) was 23rd while Hamilton was 25th with her time of 15.52 (0.3). JoAnn Benson-Jaja (Savannah, Ga.) ran a time of 58.96 in the 400 meter Dash for 24th place.
Alex Cassagnol (Augusta, Ga.) placed seventh with a height of 5-04.25 in the High Jump, her best performance of 2010. Robillard matched her season best with a throw of 101-4 in the javelin for 13th place. Hyter finished 16th overall. In other field events, Ashley Thomas placed 11th in the shot put with a throw of 39-08. Anthony earned a 12th-place finish in the Long Jump (16-11.50, -1.4) and Millicent Brooks-Millender (Douglasville, Ga.) finished in 16th with at 16-01.50 (0.1).
