EFAA Reverse Raffle Football Golf Classic
EFAA Sponsors Reverse Raffle and Event to Benefit Georgia Southern Football
Event raises funds for Football, Athletics and Erk Russell Memorial Scholarship
STATESBORO, Ga. - Join the Georgia Southern Football Coaching Staff and former Eagle players for a night of good food, live entertainment and a chance to win $10,000 at the third annual Reverse Raffle event Saturday, April 17th. The Eagle Football Assistance Association (EFAA) sponsors the $10,000 Reverse Raffle which will be held the night of the Blue-White Spring Game, from 7-11 p.m., at the Gene Bishop Field House.
Reverse Raffle tickets can be purchased from the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation for $100 each and each ticket covers food, beverages for the ticket purchaser and a guest. Attendees will enjoy the music of a great band and the opportunity to socialize with the Georgia Southern Football coaching staff and former Eagle players. A limited number of tickets are available and this event has sold out each of the last two years. Reverse Raffle ticket purchasers need not be present at the event to win the grand prize.
One of the highlights of the evening is the live auction featuring sports memorabilia, game day experience packages, hunting and fishing trips with former players, and many more unique items. A silent auction held during the first part of the event includes a variety of Georgia Southern and collegiate football items.
"This event not only makes for a fun evening and a chance to meet our new coaches, it's also a chance to support the Georgia Southern Football program and provide the funds to help achieve the goal of winning championships," said Mel McBride, president of the EFAA and former Eagle football letterwinner.
Created to assist former Eagles in need of financial help, the EFAA invites all former football players, coaches and athletics staff to support the association through annual membership and fundraising efforts. Proceeds from the Reverse Raffle event benefit perennial EFAA projects including the Erk Russell Memorial Scholarship, the Eagle Fund, the GSU Athletic Foundation and Georgia Southern Football. In the past two years, the EFAA has donated more than $64,000 to Georgia Southern Athletics and $54,000 for the Erk Russell Memorial Scholarship.

Georgia Southern Football Golf Classic Set for May 14th
Third annual event held at Cobblestone Golf Course
STATESBORO, Ga. -- The 2010 Legends of Georgia Southern Football Golf Classic returns this year to Cobblestone Golf Course. The Golf Classic, which is in its third year, is set for Friday, May 14. Registration for participants begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The Classic will be played in a captain's choice format. Cost for each participant is $125, which includes a cart, round of golf, breakfast and a goody bag. Bottled water will provided on the course.
Head Coach Jeff Monken and the Eagle Football coaching staff will be on hand as well as players from all eras of GSU's modern football history. Coaches, players and participants will compete for individual and team prizes on what is considered to be one of the best public access courses in Georgia. Cobblestone Golf Course, which is located on the shores of Lake Acworth in northwest Atlanta, was rated as a four star course by Golf Digest and selected as one of the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play" by Golf Magazine and rated one of the "Best Municipal Courses" by Golfweek Magazine.
Proceeds raised from the 2010 Golf Classic will benefit the Georgia Southern Football program and the Erk Russell Endowment fund at Georgia Southern University. Deadline to register for the 2010 Legends of Georgia Southern Football Golf Classic is Tuesday, April 27.
