STATESBORO, Ga. -- The All-Girl and Co-ed cheerleading squads of Georgia Southern University competed Thursday and Friday, April 8-9, in the 2010 National Cheerleaders Association/National Dance Alliance (NCA/NDA) Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla. More than 200 teams in 15 division categories vied for a national title, ranked on their high-energy routines that include partner stunts, pyramids, tumbling, cheer and dance.
Georgia Southern's All-Girl squad finished second in the competition behind 2010 champion West Virginia University. In the Co-ed squad competition, Georgia Southern was in fourth place on Thursday and retained that position. This was the first trip to the finals for the Co-Ed squad. The Eagles' All-Girl squad won the national championship in 2008.
Tryouts for next year's edition of the All-Girl and Co-ed squads will be held May 14-16, 2010 at the Hanner Complex on the campus of Georgia Southern University. For more information, please click here or contact Georgia Southern Cheerleading at GSUCheer@GeorgiaSouthern.edu.
