INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA FCS football championship committee sent Georgia Southern Athletics a letter of notice following the Eagle Football team's victory at Wofford Saturday. In a display of spirit, Eagle fans moved from the spectator stands onto the field after the game at Gibbs Stadium. The NCAA FCS football committee has requested that Georgia Southern remind its fans that football championship policy prohibits spectators from entering the competition area.
The NCAA FCS football committee made clear to the Georgia Southern Athletics Department that failure by the institution to keep its spectators and other unauthorized personnel out of the competition area may impact that institution's ability to play host to football postseason games in future years. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, Georgia Southern Athletics reminds Eagle fans to act responsibly before, during and after the game.
