STATESBORO, Ga. - A performance at halftime of the men's basketball game on Saturday, January 30 is one of the highlights of the fifth annual "Cheerleader for a Day" camp. The event on Saturday brings girls and boys between the ages of four to 14 to Hanner Fieldhouse to learn from and practice with Georgia Southern cheerleading teams. At halftime of the men's basketball game against the College of Charleston, participants will perform the routine learned during the morning session.
The $35 registration fee includes a ticket to the basketball game for the participant, pizza and photo session with fan-favorite mascot GUS. Parents who register their children prior to Tuesday, January 26th receive a $5 discount on the regular camp price.
The "Cheerleader for a Day" camp begins at Hanner Fieldhouse at 9 a.m. for registration before participants begin working with Eagle cheerleaders. After the cheerleader coaching sessions, participants will enjoy a pizza party and take pictures with GUS before heading to the arena to watch the first half of the basketball game.
Game tickets for parents are available for $8 per ticket. Additional youth tickets for children ages 3-12 are $4 each and children under the age of three are admitted free. Parents may also purchase tickets during the sign-in period prior to the camp start.
