Varsity Student-Athletes Excel in the Classroom

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Athletic Department is pleased to announce the academic progress of its student-athletes. During the fall 2009 semester, 179 student-athletes earned a 3.0 gradepoint average or better.
Members of all 15 varsity sports are represented on the list of student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Georgia Southern's student-athlete success did not end at the 3.0 GPA mark. They also were represented on both the Dean's and President's Lists.
The President's List, which honors those students who earn a 4.0 GPA during the semester, held 16 student-athletes.
Seven of Georgia Southern's varsity sports were represented on the President's List with women's soccer placing the most with five student-athletes. Swimming & Diving added four with Baseball earning three student-athletes.
Georgia Southern also had 67 student-athletes named to the Dean's List which includes those students with GPAs ranging from 3.5-3.99.
Student-Athletes from 12 different varsity sports were represented on the Dean's List. Softball placed 10 student-athletes on the list to top the sports as Swimming & Diving recorded nine and Women's Basketball added eight student-athletes to the list.
