STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Eagle fans voted Markeith Wylie Utilities Protection Center "Lineman of the Week" for his efforts in last weekend's victory over Western Carolina.
The Eagles defeated the Catamounts 27-3 thanks to Wylie's three tackles for loss and first career sack and the record setting performance of the defense. The senior from Washington, Ga., is one of the veterans returning to the defensive line this year as the defense held the Catamounts to minus-12 yards rushing, the second-lowest total allowed in program history and a Paulson Stadium record.
Wylie received 43 percent of the vote closely followed by freshman Daniel Few. Wylie is being honored for the first time as UPC "Lineman of the Week.
