STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Radio Network, a division of Georgia Eagle Broadcasting, Inc., the exclusive radio rights holder for Georgia Southern Athletics, announced the affiliates for the 2009 football season. GSRN's Director of Network Operations Chris Blair made the announcement Friday (July 31).
In all, 18 radio stations around the state of Georgia will carry Georgia Southern Football live. GSRN covers not only all of Georgia, but also reaches into Tennessee, Alabama, South Carolina and Florida, continuing as one of the largest networks in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision.
“We are very happy to announce that many of our past affiliates are partnering with us once again for the upcoming 2009 football season. We are equally excited about adding 1420 AM WRGC in Columbus to the network family and welcoming back 101.7 FM WTHO in Thomson,” said Blair. “With this season's full-time radio partnership, Eagle Football will be heard in all of the major media markets throughout the state, including: Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah, Macon, Brunswick and Columbus.”
Blair will take to the mic again this fall for his fourth season as the play-by-play voice for Georgia Southern Football teaming again with former Eagle Terry Harvin (color commentary), Ryan Chambers (sidelines), Mike Napier (producer/spotter) and Charlie Jones (studio host).
Programming will begin each Saturday with The Citizens Bank Tailgate Show two hours prior to kickoff and will run through the Ford Locker Room Wrap-Up Show.
“We are excited about the upcoming football season and appreciative of the efforts of Chris Blair and the Georgia Southern Radio Network to expand the coverage area,” said Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Sam Baker. “We look forward to fans tuning into the Georgia Southern Radio Network to follow the Eagles' broadcast, and hopefully tuning into the radio broadcast from their seats at Paulson Stadium.”
The Georgia Southern Radio Network will also partner with JumpTV in providing free, live streaming audio feeds for Georgia Southern Football, Men's and Women's Basketball and Baseball at the official Georgia Southern athletic website, www.GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com.
