Track & Field Prepares for Saturday's War Eagle Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern track & field team is set to participate in their final meet before the Southern Conference Championships. The Eagles will be running at the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala. Saturday.
GSU had a stellar performance two weeks ago at the Florida Relays, where they broke multiple school records in the two day meet.
Laura Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) broke the school record in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:45.55. Fuller narrowly passed the previous mark held by Brittney Jett with a time of 4:45.56.
Georgia Southern also set a new school record with a 13th place finish in the 1600 sprint medley with a time of 4:02.47.
The Eagles' 4x100 meter relay team bettered their season high with a time of 47.44.
Melanie Trumbo (Lilburn, Ga.) surpassed Kellie Mitchell's school high jump record of 5'7” with a 5'8.75” mark and finished third in the event at the relays. The Lilburn native also qualified for the NCAA Regionals with her jump.
