Fans Vote for Your Eagle Athlete of the Week

The Georgia Southern Athletics Department has released the new nominees for the Eagle Athlete of the Week fan poll for Tuesday, February 17. The poll will open every Tuesday for fan voting and close the following Monday of each week. The Athletic Media Relations Department will nominate the student athletes every week based on the previous week's athletic events. All statistics of the nominees are from those events only, not overall season statistics. Fans vote online at www.GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com and check back on Monday to see your winner. The poll is located on the lower left side of the homepage.
This week's nominees are:
Tyler Troupe, Jr, Gallatin, Tenn. - Men's Basketball
Troupe averaged 8.5 rebounds last week against Wofford and Furman. He also scored an average of 16.5 points per game with 6 assists.
J'Lisia Ogburn, Jr, Dublin, Ga. ? Women's Basketball
J'Lisia Ogburn tied her career-high in points against Furman, draining 17, the third time in her career to score that many. Ogburn was paramount in the win over Furman, leading the Lady Eagles in scoring and minutes of play with 36, also a career high. Against College of Charleston, Ogburn contributed one steal, one block, two assists, seven rebounds and six points. In the two games combined, Ogburn averaged 11.5 points and shot 59 percent from the field.
Melanie Rolle, So, Gainesville, Fla.- Women's Tennis
The sophomore starter from Gainesville, Fla. had a decisive win over Eva Hankova of Bethune-Cookman, 6-2, 6-1, to propel the Lady Eagles to a 6-1 victory. Against Alexis Rodriguez of Central Florida, Rolle pushed her opponent to a match tiebreaker. Rolle took the first set 6-4, but dropped the second by an even score and although traded points through the match tiebreaker, fell 10-7.
Jayraj Jadeja, Jr, Hayes, England ? Men's Tennis
Jayraj Jadeja remains the only Eagle singles starter undefeated in dual action thus far in the season. In the lone match this week, Jadeja combined with junior Justin Flynn to notch the first and only doubles victory for Georgia Southern. In singles action, Jadeja gave the Eagles the go ahead point clinching his win over Dmitry Vlaskin at the three seed, pushing the score in favor of the Eagles, 3-2. He remains undefeated in singles action from the one and three seeds.
